D-box not always available in all seasons, why?

I was (re)watching the series Lost and was confused why D-box was only available for season 1, 2, 5 and 6 but not for 3 and 4. It doesn’t seem logical at all. What could be the reason(s) to skip seasons?

It’s sounds more logical if they stop d-box after a or few seasons, but why skipping seasons and continue next? What’s your opinion?

Not even the administrators got an idea

Before 2020/2021, TV series were kind of a test. Movies were the primary focus and with releases being scarce compared to recent times, they were greatly appreciated. As a result, you will find that not all seasons were coded. I am not an insider, just a user since 2011. Hope this helps some.

@marc.NL This is a very good question. Brandon is right, before 2020/2021, our main focus was to code movies.
For some reason, the team back then decided not to encode Lost season 3 and 4… and unfortunately, it is still not in the plan to do it.
However, we are working on a great release plan for 2022, and I’m sure that you’ll be very happy with it

Thank you @ecummins.d-box.com for your answer. Lost is a old series that we picked up and we were surprised of the seasons 3 and d-box encoding gap and reprise of decoding for 5 and 6. It’s hard without it when you don’t expected

Don’t know who you are hinting about what releases, but I it’s coming more for (recent) series and still very looking forward for ps5 and Xbox series x gaming support! :innocent::innocent::innocent::stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Every time I see this thread, I think…

Mine works in Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter…

But there were a couple years there where I forgot to renew my subscription and it stopped working for a week in November every year… I wonder if that’s what he’s talking about?
